Since joining Davis Brody Bond in 1999, Mayine Yu has helped lead the design and successful completion of a wide range of large-scale projects, from science, technology, and multi-use buildings for academic institutions, to urban housing, to United States embassies around the world. Among her key areas of expertise is the design, detailing, and construction of exterior systems, and the integration of this technical knowledge into the requirements of interior building systems. She is the author of Skins, Envelopes, and Enclosures: Concepts for Designing Building Exteriors, a recent publication illuminating the theories and techniques of assembling exteriors with than seventy significant case studies located in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, from hand-set monolithic walls to digitally fabricated curtain walls.

Ms. Yu brings her expertise in this area to all of her projects, including most recently the new 1,000,000 sf US Embassy Compound in Mexico City (designed in collaboration with Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects), and New York University’s John A. Paulson Center, a new 735,000 sf, mixed-use facility providing new facilities for several departments ranging from athletics, performing arts, and academic classrooms to university housing for students and faculty (designed in collaboration with KieranTimberlake).
